In Second Chances, Chuck Gallagher comes clean about his past, his mistakes, and what they taught him as he rebuilt his life. Although Gallagher enjoyed a good life and a steady job, greed got the better of him, and little by little, he began to steal from his clients. It was only a matter of time before his choices caught up to him. After his stunning and public fall from the graces of his community, Gallagher describes his life in prison, the things he missed out on, and the steps he took to make things right. His inspiring story focuses on how anyone can take their worst moments of life and transform them into a better opportunity.

5Must readNov 05, 2010
By Mary Auda
A must read!!! He has touched my life through the open and emotional sharing of his experience. Chuck Gallagher is a compelling author using his personal experience of wrong choices resulting in negative consequences and how he was able to transform that experience into opportunity beyond belief. Without revealing the content of the book Chuck created circumstances that resulted in a conviction leading to a prison sentence. By making different choices, he rose above the limitations of that experience to once again having a career as an executive in national companies. Mr. Gallagher is very candid about the steps that led to his incarceration and the steps that led to a more fulfilled life. He shares his experience so the reader can understand that they have the power within to transform adversity into opportunity. The only limitations are those that we believe. This book is applicable personally and professionally. I highly recommend this book to anyone who desires to move past their self-imposed prisons.

3My Thoughts...May 22, 2011
By StinkerBell
After reading Second Chances I came away with mixed emotions. I went to school with Chuck and his ex wife so my review has this element added to it. While I am so glad that Chuck took a negative and turned it into a positive for himself there are a couple of areas I would have liked to have known more about. Chuck explained that his ex married him even though she really didn't want to. Why did Chuck go through with the marriage if he knew this? In talking about being raised in "the projects" I think people who saw this community at the time Chuck lived there would not relate it to "the projects" of today. It was low income housing with no gangs or violence and were kept up well. I feel like this is misleading. In school Chuck was a popular guy dating (his ex) a popular girl, he was liked by everyone and was very outgoing. I don't want to say that he didn't feel like a "nobody" at that time but if so he kept it very well hidden. Sometimes throughout the book I felt like things were said to bring pity or sympathy to Chuck and that upset me. In my opinion Chuck is a very nice guy and didn't need to add this to the book. As far as the book itself goes the concept of "choices" is so true and is something we should always think about but it got very repetitive and almost irritating at times to read the same thing, or almost same thing over and over. Unless I overlooked it I saw no where that free speeches are given. I feel that certainly Chuck should be paid for his work but I feel like donating some time to people that can't afford to come listen to him would be nice. And giving is so rewarding. I don't want to seem like I am negative towards Chuck but I am just being honest about my review.

5From Life's Bitter Lessons to Helping OthersApr 17, 2011
By La Vaughn Kemnow
It takes a lot of courage to admit to one's own life of duplicity, conniving, scheming--stealing what belongs to others; many others.Consequences of our actions and choices leads us to look beyond the illusions we have created in our lives and to look honestly at ourselves. Do we like what we see: What can be done to change and turn our lives around?

For those of us with a conscience, there is pain, guilt, stress and feelings of worthlessness; feelings that gnaw at us, when we do something we know is wrong. Gallagher points out that you reap what you sow, and that you cannot escape the reaping; that our worst experiences are our greatest teachers, and that every choice has a consequence.

Gallagher has admitted his wrongs, made restitution, paid the penalty of time in prison; and is devoting his life to helping others realize the consequences of their choices, and to learn to make better choices. He is to be commended in this endeavor.

5A Guide to the Potential of Life-Changing ConsequencesMar 28, 2011
By Richard R. Blake
"Second Chances: Transcending Adversity into Opportunity" is Chuck Gallagher's story. Chuck's is a story of the consequences of a wrong choice that spiraled out of control over a four year period.

The book is Chuck's personal account of "success" turned sour. An unexpected phone call became the turning point that forced Chuck to face reality. Chuck bares his soul as he relaters how a "look in the mirror" revealed his human frailties. This was the time he chose to assume responsibility for his actions, regardless of the "fall-out" of living a life of deception, lies, and illusion.

Chuck shares how he also took a look within his heart and how it revealed a glimpse of the "somebody" he actually was and the spiritual potential available by making right choices. He uses many entries from his personal journal, made while incarcerated, to provide insights learned through the process of rediscovering what it means to be "somebody."

The book is filled with short meaningful highlighted lessons, truths Chuck learned which are worthy of reflection, mediation, and life assimilation. One of my favorites reads:

"By your choices, you are empowered. By your choices, you can break the chains that bind you. By your choices, you can find joy and happiness."

Chuck's writing is authentic, inspirational, enriching, and life-changing. His life is an illustration of the opportunity afforded when free will is used to make choices that empower a person to be the spiritual being they were meant to be. His story demonstrates the relationship between personal accountability and finding success as a person and in business.

The final chapter considers "Twenty-Three Points to Ponder." Each point represents one of the twenty-three steps leading into the federal prison where Chuck was imprisoned. These truths contain keys to unlocking the "prisons" of personal bondage faced by Chuck's readers. For many years I have been associated with a faith-based prison ministry. I only wish that Chuck's book had been available earlier as an encouragement to the inmates and ex-felons contacted by our organization.

"Second Chances: Transcending Adversity into Opportunity" is a remarkable story providing guidelines to help the reader avoid the pitfalls of and the consequences of bad choices and to claim and activate the potential of making right choices for positive life-changing consequences.

5Poerful read!Mar 15, 2011
By Vallere
It's easy to see why Chuck Gallagher is sought after as a motivational speaker. He not only has a powerful message. He conveys it in a powerful way.

Everyone makes mistakes in life, though not always of the magnitude that Chuck made. Are we tolerant of people who make mistakes or do we act above them? This book caused me to reflect on how I would react, both as a person committing a mistake and as one who observed the mistake. Our reactions define who we are and who we should be.

Read the book and learn from a man who has endured it all and is using his experience to help other people cope with their lives.
